Jack and I are keeping an eye out for suggestions in this thread, so this is the best place to post them. I know you only want games that can run on XP.. if I understood you right.

Although, I personally wouldn't mind being able to get my hands on games running DOS/win95/win98.
As long as you clearly state the game ONLY run on either of those systems.
For us gamers it's not a problem, since we know how to get them to run in DosBox or ScummVM.

For me that would be a treat, since I own a few games where the CD is scratched or only exist on floppy and I don't have floppy drive anymore, lol.

As you say, for serious gamers it wouldn't be an issue. I'm sure you'd have to put "WILL NOT RUN UNDER XP" in big flashing letters on the site to avoid some damn fool downloading a game without realising this though.

Probably the other key thing (assuming you can get hold of the copyright owners in the first place) is what a licence to sell would cost. If there's a heavy up-front cost for the licence then it's only worthwhile if you're sure the market is big enough to make that back.

You are absolutely right. All the games are tested. We do not want unhappy people ;-)
It will probably the case for older games, but we are always trying to find a solution with the developer to make it compatible. XP is not an issue, Vista is a real difficulty, even for newer games.

I'm really happy to see Adventure Shop and will definitely be a customer as soon as my personal cash flow improves!

One minor thing that would be a nice touch: What if, after buying a game, you could also download the artwork for a CD label? Based on the original CD design, or the original box cover or something for the titles that never had much of a CD design. It would look a lot better (and less pirate-y) on a home-burned disk than just scribbling the title in marker.

Yes, we could always design our own labels. But an "official" one would be nice. Not important, just nice.

I'm sure I've seen these available as an all in one disc recently so there is presumably an active copyright holder at the moment. Might make it easier to track down who you need to deal with (if not actually getting a deal)

Bought my first game from the shop the other day (Journey to the Center of the Earth). Transaction was easy and the download and activation was smooth flawless.

most adventure games are hard to find in my country and because of the added postage and packing costs, i always prefer to buy downloadable games, so this is great for me

i already bought road to india, everything worked fine and of course to be able to get your game so fast is an added plus

Is there a list of the order in which the games were released? A control freak as I would like to see the date of 'publication' for the games available.

There is no such list on the shop at this time, though you can always look the games up here at AdventureGamers (use Games A-Z or the search bar on the main site). It will take you to the game info pages where you can find its release date(s).

But that only gives me the publication dates of the actual games, not of the date they launched on the adventureshop. Would be handy when the list grows longer.

The games are supposed to be released as freeware at some point, and their engine implemented in ScummVM. See here.
