I'd suggest you to make a game, but in my experience that doesn't help against boredom. It's fun and engaging to do, but it requires a non-bored state of mind to get anything done.

On a serious note though, I really don't like the idea of people drugging their children. It just seems like the new solution to bad parenting. In the vast majority of cases if these people stopped feeding their children huge amounts of sugar, and sitting them in front of flashy cartoons on TV for 12 hours a day, there would be no need for all this pschyotropic medication. Well, my parents never fed me vast amounts of sugar, and I was quite an outdoors child. TV we watched in the morning before going to Kindergarten and school, when my parents weren't even awake yet (It's kind of sweet. My eldest sister would wake my middle sister and I. I would climb out of my cot (the type that has bars all around, and then we all would pilgrimage to the living room to watch the daily early morning cartoons until my mother would wake up and make me us all hot cacao [my sisters would have Ovolmatine, and I would have Nesquick. And I would always have my cacao in a baby bottle {a large one, not those half sized ones}, because I found it tasted better that way. That was the only sweet thing we would get daily. Of course we were allowed to eat other sweets too, but really, we were usually too occupied with playing to think of eating sweets, and my mother was never the kind of parent who put a bag of sweets beside us while we were playing so we could eat and play at the same time. And we never complained about that. Did I mention I loved Cauliflower? Not usually raw, though I wasn't opposed to that either, but I loved it when it was served cooked for lunch by my grandmother].). So that was usually the only time a day we watched TV for a longer time. After we came back from school or Kindergarten, there were other things that were much more interesting.

We had a computer, sure. An old AMIGA 500, which used to belong to my mother. But we had to share it among us three *and* any friends of us that visited to play. And when we played, we wouldn't play for too long either, as usually we'd find something else of interest after some time. We have a garden, a courtyard, and in the summer our friends and us would usually be found at city swimming place (and sometimes even in the winter, in the inside swimming place of the city), from where we'd usually only return when they closed (It was rare that we stayed that long, as they have open for quite a long time, and we had only limited time though we'd like to stay longer, but it happened) or we were too exhausted to run around the swimming place any longer. In the summer holidays my sisters and I would go to the outdoors swimming place together, very early in the morning when they opened, and stay until they closed. It was very cool how the whole area was so empty, and even though the water as well as the air were still a bit cold in the morning, that was not something to deter us from having fun. In the evenings I'd lie on the still warm stones in the swimming area, beneath the slide, and look as the sun set. That was so great!

Also, we didn't get some sweet stuff to eat at break in school, or money to buy food at the school kiosk (my primary school didn't even *have* a kiosk. We all had to bring our food ourselves.), but our grandmother would make us a buns or some bread with sausage or cheese.


So no, sugar and too much sitting around cetainly weren't a problem. Also, it wasn't until 5th grade that I got medication, even though I now know I had been diagnosed in primary school already. This was partly due to my teacher getting all worked up about the possibility that a kid should take medication - though she'd probably be the first to admit that I was quite a bit more hyperactive and easily distracted than everyone else even in first grade (one regularly quoted example being that time I got up in the middle of class and went to go playing, completely having forgotten that I was in school. I can't even remember that one, but it apparently really occured.). Of course kids that age are more hyperactive than older ones, but I always stuck out anyway.

I'm still quite hyperactive and easily distracted to this day. However, the good thing is that as you grow up, ADHS gets a bit better. These days I can sometimes work without taking my medication, however other times I really notice when I forgot to take it. So no, I'm not addicted to the stuff. I *can* function without it, and I only use it when it's really necessary these days.
