Inside Man
Wow. The trailers of this were really, really pointing to nothing else than a cliché movie with pseudo-cool bank robbers and a couple of good cops. The actual thing is more comparable with Fight Club in the mood that it carries (I found). Not all characters are believable - I found particularily two to be obnoxiously badly played (the psychologist and the "problem solving" lady) - but it's really my only gripe. The movie is beautifully made and in my opinion not at all predictable as to its outcome... Spoiler: One thing got lost along the way, though, the why of the bank robbery. But it's really clearly said in the beginning - because he can. That's enough for me. Favorite scene in the movie? Spoiler:

I saw this yesterday and loved it. It gave my brain a bit of a workout, and I really liked the intro bollywood music. Besides, how can you go wrong with Clive Owen, Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster

I thought Inside Man was quite underwhelming, personally. Every critic talked about how "clever" it was, and how it would keep you guessing till the end, but every important point is made obvious within the first half hour or so of the film, and the so-called twist turns out to be completely irrelevant.
Besides, I don't need to be preached to by Spike Lee... Spoiler:

Inside Man for me too. Thought it was great - a well-planned storyline and good structure.
The scene Pink and Crusoe are talking about was brilliant too, especially for someone who hates gangsta games as much as me. The videogame itself had the entire (packed!) cinema laughing. ![]() Spoiler: |

Just saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night. I had to read the book, watch the movie and compare them for a project. It was good, but I liked the book a lot better. Something about the movie made it feel just a little distant from the book. I really didn't like how Earth gets rebuilt and Arthur gets with Trillian.
Oh, whoops. Spoilers. |
