What??!? Is that 100% true that we are getting the game in August? Holy crap! I thought that it would come in December or something like that!

I know this, but once I start learning French I'm gonna wanna expose myself to it as much as possible. So I'll probably play it in English then again in French after the end of the semester and see if I can pick any of it up. I'll also be using French movies and whatever else I can find.

The release for North America is October 1.

They didn't have a specific date for Europe. I don't know why.

Yeah, Europe gets shafted once again.

But since the DS is region free, I'll be buying Phantom Hourglass from Canada.

I pre-ordered this in August 2006.

Sigh.

The proposed US cover art, well its less blue But at least its not completely ugly like the earlier map carrying link... I hope that one doesn't end up the final.

I've had a muddle through a bit of the Japanese version using the obnoxious (but entirely welcome to be so since its about the only one I can find) translation FAQ on GameFAQs.

It should be out in the US, yes. Europe still has a few weeks to wait. No idea about Australia.

EDIT: Ahha, Australia get it a week-ish before Europe. (on the 11th).

Picked it up yesterday. It is, as expected, quite awesome. The stylus control is interesting, but what really strikes me is how well they combine the ideals of 2D and 3D Zelda games. It really feels like the best of both worlds.

This game is awesome, typical Zelda but better because of the stylus.

Linebeck is a real character and the music and sound effects are top notch. It should be played with headphones to fully appreciate it.

I just don't like the fact that you have to restart at the beginning everytime you die in a dungeon but thats how its always been I guess.

Although the stylus brings into play a variety of different actions like boomerang, it also hinders other basic functions like jumping and slashing. Its not totally accurate but maybe you just have to get used to it.

Playing this Zelda reminds me a bit of Monkey Island where you do island hopping interjected with humourous conversations and puzzle solving.

You can die?
I think I drank 1 red potion in the entire game.

I found the fighting quite easy. Slashing is quick and the shoulder button weapon switch is neat.

There are far too many ship parts, It took too much effort/time to get my ship more than 5 health. I randomly got 5, yes 5 stone hulls >< ...

The best place for parts are the random pirates which you must sink and salvage but after sharks, pirates are the greatest risk to your ship's health!

I never did work out the point of fishing... maybe that's zen/appropriate?...

I guess the game might be pretty easy for Zelda veterans. Also because of heavy stylus use, my hands are cramping after a few minutes. Might look into a new type of stylus.

I can't wait to get this one, though I must resist the urge to order it immediately. I've got no time to play games at the moment. I wonder when was the last time I for example played Stalker? It was propably about 5 months ago.

I'm looking forward to this, I've already preordered it, so I'll be waiting by the letterbox on Friday morning, for my parcel from Amazon, lol.

That is, provided the lazy peasants at Royal Mail aren't striking again.

I finished the game today, which makes me a little sad, as I was enjoying it so much, but I was playing it pretty frequently for the past week.

It really is a great game, lots of fun and I'd recommend it to anyone with a DS.

On the downside, as Crunchy said it is a little on the easy side. I defeated the final boss starting with only three full heart containers, and no potions, and no additional health during the battle.

That would be close to my guess too, maybe +3 or 4 hours if you find some bits difficult.

Its well padded should you be a gatherer and hunt down all spirit gems, ship parts, sidequests (for a totally useless sword move), mini-game bonuses, heart containers, treasure maps (36?) and fish.
