Default Do you own a PSP?

Then maybe you will find this program interesting, I think you've probably already heard about it, it's called ScummVM for PSP.

I don't have one but I find this very tempting, how is it?

I have a PSP and it rocks.

The screen is amazing.

Scummvm would be great on it.

I have one too (it isn't out in Europe until September, but I had to go to Japan for work a few months ago, so I brought one)

The psp absolutely rocks for emulators (even this early in the psp's life cycle there's already a vast amount of them)

I tried ScummVM with FOA talkie today. It's great!! I have to get used to the D-pad and the analog button for mouse movement, though (D-pad slow movements and analog is faster). As a matter of fact, I thought I would be the first one to post about it here, but you beat me to it
Sometimes it looks like it crashes, but apparently (according to the readme) that's due to autosaving (saving is very slow).
In the current version there's no support for 640x480 games (requires downsampling) -> I hope they try something; I would love to play CMI on the psp (requires a large memory stick, though )

The screen of the psp is great indeed, although the response time is a bit long (especially visible with fast moving dark objects), and you definitely have to stay out of the sunlight or you can't see anything (except for reflections).
But snes games never looked so pretty...

I've got a PSP, but I also have a Pocket PC and ScummVM works fantastic on it. The touchscreen is also more suitable for adventure games than a joystick/pad. But very neat to have this on PSP, nonetheless.

Tried it last night.

I don't have a pocket PC but this is cool. Only reservations I have is:

* The Analogue stick isn't the easiest to use for this kind of game.
* It freezes every 5 minutes as it Autosaves - Annoying
* If I want to play the full talkie versions I'l need a bigger memory card

But overall Scummvm on the PSP is excellent and they might fix at least one of the problems on the full release.

Well, I have a 1GB MS, so that isn't a problem..
The freezing is quite annoying, but I'll bet they'll be able to fix that, and maybe they can adjust the sensitivity of the analogue stick a bit; now I use the analogue stick to get in the neighborhood of where I have to be, and the D-pad for fine tuning...(analogue stick together with triangle is also slower, so that's also an option)

The fighting in Indy FOA doesn't work yet (no keys mapped, I presume)

There's already an update!!
Quote:
What's new in Beta 2:

- Fixed saving/loading 'hang' in LucasArts SCUMM games
- Fixed 'Invalid savegame' slots and naming savegames in SCUMM.
- MP3 support (MP3'd CDDA tracks and monster.so3)
available at http://0x.7fc1.org/psp/scummvm/scummvm-psp-beta2.zip

And they chose to bind the select button to '0' -> this way you can enter something for your savegames + enter (fake) codes necessary to get mi2 started + use the 'suckerpunch' in FoA.

It's already working well and I get used to move the cursor with the analog pad, but games crash constantly and leave the user with a blue screen of death. They just need to work out the kinks in this beta. Shout out to the great guys for porting SCUMM to the best handheld ever!
