Hidden Gems

Saw this article at Joystiq while reading a Peter Molyneux interview. So how many of the games do you have and which are your favorites? What other good lesser-known games do you like? I myself basically have only Beyond Good & Evil, Ico, Psychonauts and loved all three.

After reading the article and the link to the GameGirl article (wow...) I'm thinking of buying Rez (although $40 for a used game hurts). Seems like my kinda game, even if it is as short as it is.

I've got ~~Fahrenheit~~ Indigo Prophecy, Eternal Darkness, BG&E and Psychonauts.

While Fahrenheit and Eternal Darkness are great games with original concepts, I don't think you can mention them in the same breath as Beyond Good and Evil. I honestly enjoyed the experience of playing BG&E more than any other game in recent years, bar Ocarina of Time. So anyone who hasn't played it yet, go and buy it already. It was super cheap a couple of years ago, never mind now.

Gasp! How can you--YOU OF ALL PEOPLE!--say something all too nice about Fahrenheit and something so sacreligious about Psychonauts in the same breath?!

Sorry guys! I found the platforming in Psychonauts to be very mundane, and I often find 3D platform games frustrating. The rest of the package wasn't quite enough to allow me to see past it.

I must admit I haven't finished the game though - I'm only up to the Asylum - so I'll give it another go at some point. I can be extremely fickle so you never know...

Awesome! I have Indigo Prophecy (i've got Farenheit, technically), Rez, Killer 7, Alien Hominid, Ikaruga (import), Ico, Disgaea, Beyond Good and Evil, AND Psychonauts. 9 out of 11 games listed.

I'm pretty far up on the list too... Indigo Prophecy, Killer 7, Eternal Darkness, Ico, BG&E and Psychonauts. 6 out of 11 ain't bad. More than half, whoo hoo!

Silent Storm. Arx Fatalis. Startopia. Disgaea. Man, there's a lot of weird little games.

I've never played REZ stoned, although I imagine that is the only right way to do it. As soon as I get my hands on some happy contraband and have a Dreamcast in front of me, I'll give it a go. Oh, yes.

ICO. BG&E. Psychonauts. etc.

The best adventure game I've played that most others haven't would be Gast.

Other somewhat obscure games I spend the most time with are RC Cars, Enigmo and Moorfrosch. I don't speak German, but Moorfrosch is pretty easy to figure out. It's just a Frogger clone.

I played most Gamecube and PC games in that list, but none of the PS2/X-Box exclusives, since I simply don't have those consoles. So I'm guess I'm doing pretty well

Am I the only one who played Stubbs the Zombie? A charming game, way too short though. Commanding whole armies of zombies and eating brains while listening to a great soundtrack - the game should have been a hit.

I've only got one game on that list (Beyond Good & Evil), and I never exactly saw that as "hidden"- that was pretty high-profile for me because it was made by Michel Ancel. Oh, if I only lived by a game store with reasonable prices...
