Default EVE online 14 day free trial and it aint impressing me

I'm not impressed yet, im 3 days into my 14 day free trial.. SHOULD i be impressed? mmorpg.com have rated it NUMBER 1 MMORPG. But so far all i've done is fly around doing the tutorials which have given me a pretty good idea of what the games all about and im not too impressed... i might have to try anohter...

my search for a FUN MMORPG without constant grinding and expensive fees still continues.. any help would be welcomed...

EVE Online is a game you have to invest several months in until you begin doing whatever you want to do - marketing, manufactoring, heavy duty mining, hunting. Until then, your best bet is to finish as many agent missions as possible and do some cargo runs.

EVE Online is not exactly your "fun" MMORPG without grinding - it is common to see people mining for hours and spending half a day for one cargo run (40 jumps anyone?).

My suggestion - give the game some time, read manuals and new player guides. Oh, and there is no such thing as fun MMORPG without grinding - not yet.

well, i've un-installed it. it isn't for me. I'm looking for an MMORPG that i can log onto and play at will and not feel bored or feel like i need to do pointless Grinding (well might not be pointless but to me it all is). My MMO love was quickly destroyed by WoW and now i need something else to entertain me. I seem SOOOO bored by games lately.

No, not at all, it's by far the best MMORPG that one can log onto and play at will.

Spoiler:
Of course, now some bright head will suggest that Guild Wars is not really an MMORPG which is an issue I don't care about discussing, I just wanted to help.

WoW is supposed to be well suited for solo play.

I recently tried the EVE Online free trial, and I can't say I was impressed either. It was a shame - I absolutely *loved* its closest single-player relative (Elite), but EVE did nothing to impress me. Well, that's not quite true - its potential impressed me and had me hooked for a very short time, but it completely failed to hold my interest. I seemed to spend more time with it minimised, performing annoying 'grinding' tasks completely on autopilot, than anything else.

I had the benefit of playing the trial with someone I knew, and even our attempts to team up and wreak havoc were boring. Check out my review here if you're interested.

I don't think MMORPGs are really my thing.

Only for the first 30 levels. Then you're forced to group otherwise you won't be able to do well at all. I tried the game it was great, but because Im forced to join with people I kind of can't play whenever I want I need to play when other people are online.

There was a game YEARS ang YEARS ago that was like EVE online. It was one of the first ever MMO's but it was french and only had 1 server in france so it was fairly laggy. A friend of mine played it on his dial up when noone even bothered with internet (in australia that is). im talking Ultima Online time so everyone would have been playing UO.

Can't remember the name of this game but would LOVE to find out what it was called as i've talked about it lots and noone knows of it. I cant remember where my friend lives now so i cant ask him.

It was space game, you even colonised planets and sent your citizens building sky scrapers and cities on them. You had to upgrade to hyperspace before being able to go anywhere and then you had to deal with other players because it was a PvP game. It took him about a month i think before he saw anyone else since he was in remote area of space.

please does anyone know the name?

And GUILD WARZ IS an MMO, just ask mmorpg.com who have it in their top ratings list.

The only early space MMOG I can think of is Westwood's Earth & Beyond.

Everyone I know is going on about Eve justnow...but it sounds horrible.
You know if you forget to buy yourself a clone you could loose years worth of skills?

You tried City of Heros/Villains yet?

It's a good way of ensuring the idiots won't play :p , eve may be difficult but so far the community has been great because of it.
