I recently tried the EVE Online free trial, and I can't say I was impressed either. It was a shame - I absolutely *loved* its closest single-player relative (Elite), but EVE did nothing to impress me. Well, that's not quite true - its potential impressed me and had me hooked for a very short time, but it completely failed to hold my interest. I seemed to spend more time with it minimised, performing annoying 'grinding' tasks completely on autopilot, than anything else.
I had the benefit of playing the trial with someone I knew, and even our attempts to team up and wreak havoc were boring. Check out my review here if you're interested. I don't think MMORPGs are really my thing. |

There was a game YEARS ang YEARS ago that was like EVE online. It was one of the first ever MMO's but it was french and only had 1 server in france so it was fairly laggy. A friend of mine played it on his dial up when noone even bothered with internet (in australia that is). im talking Ultima Online time so everyone would have been playing UO.
Can't remember the name of this game but would LOVE to find out what it was called as i've talked about it lots and noone knows of it. I cant remember where my friend lives now so i cant ask him. It was space game, you even colonised planets and sent your citizens building sky scrapers and cities on them. You had to upgrade to hyperspace before being able to go anywhere and then you had to deal with other players because it was a PvP game. It took him about a month i think before he saw anyone else since he was in remote area of space. please does anyone know the name? And GUILD WARZ IS an MMO, just ask mmorpg.com who have it in their top ratings list. GoT

The only early space MMOG I can think of is Westwood's Earth & Beyond.

Everyone I know is going on about Eve justnow...but it sounds horrible.
You know if you forget to buy yourself a clone you could loose years worth of skills? You tried City of Heros/Villains yet?
