After playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I want to play some more awesome RPGs.

Are there any cool upcoming RPGs for PC (btw I don't really like those games that take place almost completely in dungeons. )

Um, have you tried Deus Ex? Also, I've heard great things about Gothic 2. Peter Molyneaux's Fable is coming up for Xbox.

Yes, Fable looks VERY promising. The same goes for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Both games will likely revolutionize the way we perceive and play rpgs.

Fable. Will it ever be ported to PC?

There's an addon pack "Night of the Raven" coming for Gothic 2 It has been already released in the German language, but the English version is coming Q1 I think.
So if you haven't played Gothic 2 yet, you could wait for the addon pack and then buy them both.

Gothic 2 is definitely one of the most awesomest RPG's out there. I'll finish it soon, my exams just ended

But does Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines get pushed back because of Half Life 2?

Somehow I don't see that a game using Valve's brand new unreleased engine will come before Valve's own game.

And Half-Life 2 is most likely going to come in October-December/Christmas 2004.

I wouldn't be so sure. I think another game came out with the Unreal Warfare engine before UT2003. Also, it would make sense that if Valve is licensing their engine and receiving money for it, they can't tell their licensees to delay their game just because their own game isn't done yet.

Since it's developed by Molyneux and for x-box I think that the answer should be: likely.
Even if that means waiting 6-12 months after console premiere I think it'll be worth it.

The same here. I'm starting to read Anne Rice (just bought Interview with the Vampire) to set myself in a mood. Besides, I always loved movies about vampires (Blade is an exception) and it just happens so that lately I had a chance to see Dracula and Interview... once again and the opportunity of - finally - seeing John Carpenter's Vampires (not what I expected but still good entertainment).

Now imagine. You'll have a chance to play as almost any kind of vampire you could imagine - a classic, stereotypical or the more exotic and unorthodox. There's hideous nosferatu, aristocrat from Dracula, the romantic vampire with Weltschmerz from Rice's novels or the deprived predatory relativist from The Addiction.



BTW AFAIK Bloodlines are on schedule.

If you don't mind an RPG with a few years, you may want to try Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura. You can surely get it cheap, and it's my all-time favourite RPG (although no one seems to share my "love" for the game).

The freedom you have in the game is incredible (you can be a good character and avoid combat, or you can kill everyone in sight, I mean whole cities!). One thing the game has that is quite unusual is that you can either use tecnology (pistols, ...), or you can use magick (with a "k"; spells, etc). The game can be played in real-time, or turned-based. The soundtrack is also a favourite of mine.

If you have patience, you may want to give it a try.

Fable definately looks awesome. I'm considering buying an X-Box so I can play Jade Empire and if I do Psychonauts, Fable, and Jade Empire will definately be the games I'll consider purchasing. The first Vampire game was OK, but I didn't really like the 'universe' it was set in. If I don't get an X-Box hopefully there will definately be a PC port of Fable.

I'm definately looking forward to BioWare Corp announcing the new PC RPG they've got in development. Also hopefully Lucasarts will announce Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2 at E3 2004.

Funktion: I don't have a problem with playing old RPGs but at the moment I'm only pretty much interested in the new ones.

that sounds an awful lot like fallout, after i beat fallout i couldnt stand it anymore. It is ok but no way i can get myself to start another fallout type game.

I definitely agree that Arcanum is worth looking into, it's got a LOT of replayability, and the different character types are really unique to anything I've ever played. The opening movie really sets the mood for the rest of the game's odd setting.
Neverwinter Nights is a blast to play, but it's highly addictive. Not the game to play if you ever want to see the outside world, lol.
Also, if you can find them, Arx Fatalis, Divine Divinity, and Wizardry 8 were all pretty quirky games.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is a wonderful game. I have spent days upon days playing it. Look for its two expansions, Tribunal and Bloodmoon too. It has a HUGE world and a lot of freedom. Many times have I walked into a merchant's store, seen a nice weapon, noticed I hadn't the amount of money to purchase the item legally, kiled the merchant, and taken the weapon.

Deus Ex is one of my most favourite games of all time. Too short though.

Morrowind... I don't wanna even bother with that. My sister has been playing it for over a year and still hasn't finished all the damn quests. I also think Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic has spoiled me... I expect every NPC to talk now.
